I prefer to take on students who are considered "intermediate" or at least working toward the intermediate level and advance because I specialize in developing a singer's performance quality. It's important that the student has basic vocal technique training prior to training with me because they'll have a technical foundation and sense of confidence that will allow them to explore (or as I like to call it "play") more of their vocal capabilities. I incorporate method books into all of my lessons, as well as any technique books that are appropriate for each specific student. The method books that I begin with are Essential Elements, the I Recommend series, Standard of Excellence, and Tradition of Excellence. The technique books depend on the specific instrument and ability level. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for singing! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I try to set realistic goals for my students at each lesson. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs!I encourage my students to practice at least 15 minutes per day and I continually each student new materials to practice( which is age appropriate.) My teaching method always includes at least one Broadway musical piece and one monologue for them to learn in case they need an audition piece. Read More

There will be bi-weekly master classes that students have the option of attending to perform for other students, and learn from watching (This is a big learning tool). But as I said it is optional. The student will always be working toward their goal while enriching their musical taste.  I really enourage live performance, and will provide ample performance opportunities. There I cultivated my skills as a soloist, ensemble player, and accompanist for several student recitals. I received his Bachelors of the Arts in Musical Composition and Psychology, with Honors in both, in 2009. While working towards my degree I began teaching both group classes and private lessons in the Elk Grove area eventually expanding to the greater Sacramento area and Davis during my almost 20 years of teaching. I became a member of the Music Teacher’s Association of California (MTAC) in 2010 and held many positions in the organization for the Yolo County Branch, including Chair of the Composer’s Today program (a program that holds an annual recital for students who compose their own music), Recording Secretary, and I'm currently finishing my tenure as Branch President.
