Instruments: Piano Voice Ukulele Keyboard
My teaching style nurtures the students love of the instrument while tossing in technical details along the way! Especially when beginning a new instrument, acknowledging goals that a student has, or songs they would like to learn to perform is essential to helping that initial eagerness to continue throughout lessons, and to help the student feel accomplished in their instrument. Together, the student and I will set realistic goals for them in their instrument to complete songs, technical aspects, warm ups, etc. and I will help them to achieve those goals. Read More
Instruments: Piano
I always try to make the lesson fun. I look for things that will keep my students inspired. I am extremely patient. I always encourage my students in a positive way. I try not to be too pushy. If a student doesn't want to learn a piece then I will try and find something that they are more inspired to learn. I like to give them a choice. I will play a few pieces for them and see which one they like more. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Trombone
I love teaching the trombone! I think more kids should check it out, and adults should continue playing throughout their lives even if it isn't a profession. I am a graduate from the Lamont School of Music in DU, and received my bachelor's at Cal State Northridge, both degrees in performance. I've played in venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York and the Kennedy Center in DC. I am classically trained but also love to play jazz music. Read More

I do my best to foster a warm and safe environment with all of my students. In all of my first lessons, I establish rules that explain that we must treat our lesson space, our instruments, and each other with respect. I cater each lesson to each student; every person is different, therefore every lesson must be different. During each lesson, we set realistic yet challenging goals for the next upcoming lessons. I'm a motivated and patient instructor who likes working with many different types of students and sharing what I know and love about music with others. I graduated from UC Berkeley with a microbiology degree in 2017; while most of my studies were unrelated to music, I took genre and performance classes in music throughout and played in several live music ensembles. I've played violin and guitar from a young age, learned brass and percussion in high school, and taught myself piano while in college. Read More
Instruments: Piano Trumpet Trombone
My teaching style is catered to the pace and interests of the student. Small achievements are the keys to great success, and acknowledging these achievements is essential to maintaining interest in learning music. I work together with students to find and set short term, midterm, and long term goals so that visible growth of their abilities can be observed, tracked, and appreciated. Through this process, anything can be achieved. Keeping a journal with dates, times, goals, practice logs, and general notes about your experiences can be extremely helpful along the path to mastery. I always say that rhythm is more important than the notes. Play the right rhythm and the notes will come instead of playing every right note while sacrificing rhythm. I encourage students to make their mistakes loud, proud, and in rhythm so everyone has a better idea of what needs to be worked on most. I also emphasize isolating parts to practice and working backwards. Example: play the last two bars of the song until comfortable with it, now play the last 4 bars, last 6, last 8...etc., whole song.
