I began teaching back in my sophomore year of high school when one of my friends wanted to learn how to play the piano. I gave them half hour lessons once a week and tailored my teaching to fit what techniques they wanted to learn. After that, I began branching out and teaching other friends, and eventually found myself helping out the middle school bands during my study hall. Now that I am in college, my own playing has improved and I have found new ways to connect and teach students whether that be in person, or by using technology such as skype. Read More

I emphasize the importance of proper posture, technique, the ability to read music, and knowledge of the fretboard. Accordingly, I always assign students exercises meant to develop and strengthen a variety of aspects of both left-hand and right-hand technique. The pace at which we move through the exercises is dependent on the student's own level of motivation and how much practice they do. I encourage students to practice daily for at least 30 minutes, but recommend more if they wish to see more dramatic results. Read More

What do YOU want to learn!? In order for me to teach you, I need to learn about yourself in order to assess the best way to help your overall instrument skills. What kind of music do you like? What is your current skill set? What are your overal goals and aspirations? These things help me to provide a curriculum that is specific for each individual students needs. Each student is blessed with a specific skill set and talents, and it's only right that I spark an interest and a desire for students to want to practice, and become excited for the next lesson. Instruments: Violin
My approach to teaching encapsulates a nonjudmental attitude and a clear succinct way into the gateway of information that one approaches as they progress along the path of musical learning. I value kindness, appreciation for one’s craft and effort. The key for me in all life is balance. I approach music from not just a physical standpoint applying various aspects of quantum and classical physics but also from a basic compassionate stance of what it means to be a human being living a fundamentally good human life. Instruments: Drums
I teach all levels from Beginner through Advanced. I often, with beginners, make sure we learn the fundamentals. This gives them a firm foundation, so when we move on, we are not forced to go back to the beginning. I believe the key to being an advanced drummer is the concept of foot-hand independence. That is the idea of getting both of your hands, and both of your feet all doing separate things at the same time. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice Flute
Music has been a passion of mine my entire life. I started piano at the age of 4, flute at the age of 10, and sang throughout. I have enjoyed performing in many venues from coffee shops to churches to big music halls; functions from weddings and funerals to special dinners; and just for fun with family and friends. My undergraduate degree from Wheaton College is a Bachelor of Music with a concentration in Psychology, and my Masters is in Music Education. Read More
Instruments: Viola
My playing experience dates back over ten years while my teaching experience dates back four years. I have had the opportunity to travel to Europe and South America to perform with symphony orchestras. I spent my college days making extra spending cash playing in weddings and small events. I also began my teaching experience tutoring children in viola and violin at the nearby schools. Since college I have tutored over 50 students in viola and violin. Read More
