I provide individualized instruction with a theoretical focus. I want students to understand the music that they play. I view music as a language and believe in the importance of being able to manipulate it to convey a message to the listener. I allow students to choose the songs they learn and couple them with technical exercises to improve dexterity and familiarity with the instrument. I gave two recitals at the Univeristy in 2010 and 2011, and performed Rhapsody in Blue with the Aurora Symphony Orchestra in 2010. I have been playing drums for thirty years, and teaching drums to all ages of students for about twenty. I started playing drum set at the age of five, took regular private lessons from many teachers, took every music class available at school, and made District Honor Band seven years. I marched on my high school's snare line for four years and was Drum Captain for two.
