Instruments: Piano Voice
I use Bastien Piano Basics for young and older beginners, as well as supplemental books from Alfred Piano and Hal Leonard. For intermediate students, we begin building a repertoire together of pieces the student enjoys and plays well. I try to find a nice balance between classical, traditional, and popular music. For voice I use the Little Singers series for kids and supplemental books of songs from Hal Leonard. These songs include Disney favorites and other classic songs such as "Puff, the Magic Dragon". Instruments: Flute Piccolo Music
I use a combination of methods tailored to a student's needs and goals. With very young students, I use play to focus on movement and musical thinking. With young students who are reading or starting to read, I usually use a combination of the Suzuki method and traditional French methods like Moyse, focusing on singing, memory, and tunefulness while allowing students to self-direct the learning of reading sheet music. With teen and adult beginners, I focus a bit more on literacy and rhythm while providing a combination of quickly learned progressive pieces and long-term projects. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone Flute Clarinet
My teaching style varies for each student's individual needs. For beginner students I often try the easiest way for the student to enjoy the lesson while also giving the most value in their time. It is my desire to show every student that they have what is capable of making great music, now. Creating a supportive environment for the student to explore their instrument in all ways and gain the understanding that everything they do on their instrument is an opportunity to learn and grow is of utmost importance to me. Instruments: Guitar Classical Guitar Acoustic Guitar
I have been teaching guitar since 2012 to all ages from beginner to professional level. The most notable student to date has won national level competition after eight months of learning the classical guitar and have been accepted with scholarships in top music schools such as Peabody Institute of Music and Rostock University of Music in Germany Based on my previous teaching experience, focusing on classical guitar and its pedagogical method helps the students to build strong techniques, sightreading, and phrasing skills which all can be all applied in other styles of guitar. Instruments: Drums Conga
Teaching an individual how to play drums is a very rewarding process for both the teacher and the student, and I find it ineffective to demand anything with unrealistic expectations. I introduce the student to simple and relevant information in a step by step way to ensure a comfortable learning environment that gives the student their own motivation to progress and get better. It is also very important for me to understand my student in a way that helps me better suite what they enjoy so they can get the most out of the learning experience. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet
I incorporate basic sightreading, scales, and musical literacy into this. For students with a bit of experience, I have an advanced version of this, which I usually pair with H.L. Clarke's "Techincal Studies for Trumpet/Cornet" and Vincent Cichowicz's "Flow Studies". Depending on the student's level of ability, I might also include parts of Arban's "Complete Conservatory Method for Trumpet" or Vacchiano's "Trumpet Routines". I use the most time-tested trumpet literature to teach, and adapt my exercises and books to each student individually. Read More
