Overview:
I’m a motivated and hardworking young man. I enjoy working with students. I feel like music is being lost in the schools, and it’s my passion to bring back the enthusiasm to the next generation. I’ve been playing the saxophone since the age of 7. I’m also a professional songwriter. Placements on various artist throughout the music industry.
EXPERIENCE
My teaching experience date back to my high school days. Because I was so advanced in school I was tasked with mentoring my fellow classmates. I like to encourage students to learn multiple genres. As a saxophonist their is no box. In 2012 I graduated high school and went on to Bowie State University. I’ve been trained in classsical , Jazz and blues. I also can play by ear and teach the technique to my students. I’ve played alongside tank , j.holdiay and Nelson frank (Grammy nominated songwriter).
METHODS USED
For beginner students I usually start off with the Hal Leonard Essential Elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep my lessons engaging and fun, no matter The ability level !
LESSON STYLE
I intend to see progress in every student! I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at the begging of each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps boost a student hunger to learn more! By trying to find out what inspires the student I can succefully tailor my instruction to the wants and needs of every student.
