I earned my bachelors degree from Northwestern State University in music performance, and my masters degree in music performance from Louisiana State University. My education has culminated in an understanding of many musical styles from classical music and jazz in the double bass to funk, blues, and metal on the electric bass. For beginning students, I like to start with a combination of the Suzuki method and Essential Elements. As the student progresses, I will introduce solo repertoire according to their level. For adults, I will start with basic musical training and then we will move on to a repertoire that the student is interested in learning. For beginning cello students who are children, I typically start with Suzuki method elements. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level.
