I am a funny, down-to-earth person and am always considerate of my students' feelings. My tone is never critical, as my main goal is to inspire the same sort of passion for music that I have aquired throughout my own musical education. I have caring teaching practices which generate self-motivated practice, a skill which translates well to all other areas of achievement. Students are encouraged to work at their own pace, and progress is dependant on level of interest and commitment; "you only get what you give." This is true for everyone! Read More

I play and teach the following styles: rock, blues, metal, classical, funk, pop, country, alternative, and folk/acoustic. Read More

My teaching experience goes back to college when I would help out non-piano playing music students for their piano class. (Yes, if you go to school for music, you have to learn some piano, no matter what!). I've also taught students as young as 7, and I was a piano and band instructor at Columbia College Chicago's Blues Camp, which is for students ages 6-18. I was also a keyboard instructor at School Of Rock before having to leave due to touring with Nick Moss. Read More

For beginning students, in their early twenties, I typically start by making a proper tone and learn how natural it can be. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of certain fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their performance career. As they progress, I try to find out, mutually, find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability.
