After completing his BA in Sound Design and Theatre for Youth at The Evergreen State College, Corey worked for the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, Ashland Childrens Theatre and ran his own puppetry company steppuP Puppets. He has also worked for The Helen Hayes Theatre Awards in Washington DC, Blue Sky Puppet Theatre in Maryland, and Perry-Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp in Steamboat Springs Colorado. I began teaching after graduating high school and have continued to do so ever since. During these years I attended college at California State University Chico, where I earned my Bachelor's degree as an audio engineer. This journey greatly helped me grow as a musician, teacher, leader, and engineer. Through out my college years I continued to play in bands both through my school and locally in our community, started my own business to help local musicians gain recognition and improve their skills, gained a new appreciation for musicianship and creativity through the eyes of an audio engineer, and of course taught my students to improve their musical abilities. I've been teaching almost as long as I've been playing. By the time I was in high school I had earned the reputation as "the drum guy" and friends would come to me for informal lessons on how to practice and play drums. Some of these students have continued their musical pursuits and have gone on to attend good music colleges and are playing professionally!
