My ultimate aim in teaching is to build a solid foundation of music based on the musical ability of each age group and offer a suitable curriculum. In Vietnam, I had a four-year Intermediate Education Diploma in voice. I took many opportunities to be a volunteer musician at church since she 8 years old until now in singing and playing the piano. I have my own private voice and piano studio for all different ages. Read More

Jaimes vocal instruction has an emphasis on the creative and critical pedagogical methods as she works to create spaces that nurture student agency, reflection, and critical thinking. For beginning students I really get to know where the student is at in their learning experience. I try to individualize the learning experience as much as possible, learning about the student's background his or her interests in music. Also, I would track the student's progress carefully taking notes about lessons to better guide them in their musical journey. Above all striving to foster a great curiosity to learn! Learning music is so rewarding. Read More

I began teaching private lessons full time recently and have my own home studio for in-person and online Skype lessons. I always felt my passion was to become a teacher and I also have self-published my own drum rudiment book called "Learning Rudiments". I am a serious student of the drums as I regularly take online lessons, watch practice videos, and listen to drum teaching podcasts to pick up the latest advice. Read More

For a good basis of knowledge in drumming I typically like to employ several method books. David Stanoch's Mastering the Tables of Time, George Lawrence Stone's Stick Control, Steve Houghton's Essential Styles books 1 2, and Anthony Cirone's Portraits in Rhythm. Need of materials will depend on each student's current level of understanding, each student's personal goals, curriculum used within their school, audition requirements for colleges, state solo ensemble repertoire lists, etc. Read More

I prefer to instruct out of the James Bastien method books for the student's main lesson assignments. However, I also encourage students to bring and play out of books that inspire and motivate them individually. This keeps lessons lighthearted and keeps the student interested in the next lesson in my experience. I set realistic weekly and monthly goals for my students so I'm able to gauge how the student has performed, as well as how they should be instructed going forward. Read More
