While I taught before graduate school, most of my teaching experience comes from the graduate assistant ship I held while studying. Later, I began to teach from my home and eventually was offered a job in a music store. I've given thousands of lessons since I began teaching. I think it's important to teach students songs as quickly as possible while introducing some fundamentals like counting and giving them a number of different strumming patterns to work with. I first started music at a young age through my local church; my first instrument being flute. I studied flute for many years before taking formal voice lessons. This led me to become a voice performance major at the Manhattan School of Music, where I sang lead roles in and outside of the school. In addition, I continued my flute studies as well as strengthen my piano skills. I am a passionate Christian and motivated drum instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. Since 2007 I've been apart of The Salvation Army Indiana Divisional Band. Since 2011 I have the pleasure of working as a freelance drummer. I also had the joy of working as a drum teacher at Cornerstone Center for the Arts (Muncie, IN). One of the greater experiences of my life as a musician was having the opportunity of playing with The Salvation Army USA/International Band in 2013 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena California. I graduated college in the Spring of 2020 and then proceeded to get a temporary teaching job as a orchestra director in Pike Township for the first half of the year. This was followed by an elementary teaching position in the same township. I then took a step back to focus on my playing.
