For beginning piano students I typically start with Faber's piano adventure series--I typically have students work through the lesson, performance, and theory books while providing them with additional repertoire on the side (pop, disney, classical pieces etc.) For voice students, I typically spend about a third of the lesson working on technique--proper breathing, posture, extending range, working on tone quality etc. Then the rest of the lesson is spent working on solo song repertoire. I will first understand what direction the student wants to go musically, whether it be playing chords and singing or being entirely a solo guitarist. From there we can understand what style they want to be playing as I would encourage having a basic understanding of all musical styles. I will also encourage them to have a basic understanding of music theory, for I believe this to be very important in order to understand concepts of music and be able to communicate them. Read More

I am funatic, a fun teacher who is fanatic about there instrument. The cello is the middle child between the bass and the violin and a lot like the middle child stereotypes I also think the cello doesn't get enough respect. I have been teaching music since I was a teenager. I started with my neighborhood friends, and later at a school of music, where I also hosted showcase concerts for my students. I then went into private teaching in 2009, and have been teaching student of all ages at their homes.
