Instruments: Flute Piccolo
For beginning students, I typically start with the Rubank Elementary Method Flute Book by A. C. Peterson. Once the student has progressed and has managed to grasp fundamentals, we can proceed to the next volumes within the same series. For adults, I typically do my best to see what they are interested, and will guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons intriguing. I will typically assign an etude per week to my more advanced students. Read More

Instruments: Violin
Honesty is key: losing interest or feeling disheartened about your playing is sometimes part of the journey, and I want to remain as open as possible so that my students can feel relaxed and able to talk to me honestly about how their practicing is going. My ideal student is someone who is excited about the violin. I have experience playing all styles of music (classical, jazz, rock, and more!) so if that is something you or your child is interested in, I can help! Read More

Music is definitely my passion, and I love taking any opportunities I get to help spread my love for music to others. So far, I have two degrees in music: my Bachelor's from the University of Indianapolis in Percussion Performance (with concentrations in composition and recording) and my Master's from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music in composition. I'll be entering into my doctoral degree in composition at UC-CCM in the spring of 2015, but don't let my graduate pursuit of composition degrees fool you - I'm definitely a percussionist at heart, and timbre is one of the primary focuses of my compositions. I move at a very quick pace, but I have my students set their own goals. While I will select the literature for the student, I want them to feel successful when they are working with me. I want students to be confident and successful, so I will do anything in my power to help them learn good technique and practice habits. Teaching students has been a rewarding experience for me, and I believe that I can make a difference in their lives.< When students are practicing, I want them to practice scales for instruments, and vocal warmups for voice before starting on the assigned work for the next lesson. I began teaching in Mississippi in 2011 to college students at the University of Southern Mississippi. After moving to Cincinnati, I began teaching preschool music. I began developing a preschool curriculum at the University of Cincinnati's Preparatory Program that combined reading, dancing, singing and imagining. After teaching privately for a year, I began my position as Executive Director of the Cincinnati Outreach (COR) Music Project. Our mission was to put music programs in schools that couldn't afford them on their own, particularly in urban areas around Walnut Hills. Read More
