Hello! My name is Eric, and I'm a multi-instrumentalist with the deepest history on trumpet. I began playing the trumpet at the age of 7, taking private lessons that I continued through high school with several wonderful teachers. I began playing in ensembles at the age of 9. I began playing the bass at 15, drums at 17, and guitar at 19. I now perform on all instruments. I've been a part of the Philadelphia-based band Snacktime since 2020 and we've traveled the country together and played some legendary venues such as Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado, Irving Plaza in NYC, and were the house band for Jason Kelce's "They Call It Late Night" on ESPN. When the student practices with the rice, they produce a powerful"toot" the first time the headjoint reaches their lips! I like to use the Suzuki materials for flute and also mix it up with favorite duet books and classic repetoire. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson and by teaching them the songs they love the most. For younger students (under eight years old) I usually use the Alfred all in one book.. for older children, I use the Bastian set of four books: piano performance, technic and theory. I aim to teach my students the difference between "playing the trumpet" and "making music" and how this distinction is applied to practice. "Playing the trumpet" is a physically demanding task that requires diligent, often tedious practice to become skilled at. "Making music", on the other hand, can be done by anyone at any skill level and is lots of fun.
