For materials I use the following; Vic Firth Snare Drum Method, Rudimental Swing Solos, Art of Bop Drumming, Brazilian Rhythms for Drumset, Afro-Cuban Rhythms for Drumset, Syncopation, Rudimental Ritual, Tables of Time and Music Minus One. Each book focuses on sight reading, coordination and musical styles. Outside of reading materials, I always give my students music to listen to and recordings to play along to. Playing and listening to recordings provides a musical context for what we're learning. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I either utilize the "Robyn Method" (Keyboard Town); or the "Clark Method" (The Music Tree). Both methods provide emphasis on intervalic reading of notes, in addition to learning the specific names of all notes in both clefs. For adult beginners, I typically use "Play by Choice" or the Robyn Method. These methods help prepare the intermediate students for learning and playing the scales, including the Hannon exercises and playing the arpeggios. Read More

The electric guitar quickly became a part of my identity, a part of my security, and has remained as a stable force in my life. I've been lucky to have a diverse professional musical career, studying jazz at SUNY New Paltz, nationally touring in a Zydeco Punk band, fronting my own band of originals, singing and playing guitar in rock musicals, and composing soundtracks. All while keeping up my teaching practice. Read More

Proficient in many different styles, I am teaching my students to be open to any opportunity and am helping them realize their full creative potential. Wherever they would want to concentrate on a single task, like preparing for auditions for an orchestra or a music school, or are dreaming to join a classical/pop/rock/jazz/klezmer/folklore/arabic/gipsy/wedding band or ensemble - I will help. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
