For intermediate and advanced students, I like to figure out what kind of popular music (rock, blues, jazz, pop) that they would like to play and learn more about, and then learn repetoire or basic techniques in that particular genre. Again, I specialize mainly in popular styles, and am not much of a classical player. My hope is to give intermediate and advanced classically trained students a good foundation in popular styles, and once the foundation is there, start working on repetoire. Read More

The fundamentals of playing are a great place to start with any lessons. Working with scales, breathing, and intonation are among those fundamentals that help build up ones playing at the strongest points. From there, it is important to incorporate those into etudes and solos, learning how they function within written pieces. Another important aspect of successful lessons, I believe, is giving the student a choice. I've studied with internationally renowned clarinetists from the Israel Philharmonic, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and more. My teachers have included Eli Eban, Diana Haskell, James Hinson, and Mary Sage. Currently, I'm pursuing my Master of Music in Clarinet Performance at California State University - Fullerton with the Los Angeles Philharmonic's Burt Hara.
