I began teaching bass lessons when I was in high school. I taught bass for 11 years as an adjunct instructor at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. I also worked as a clinician at the UAB Jazz Summit. Many of my students have gone on to play professionally and a few have gone on to become music teachers themselves. The most important aspect to teaching in my opinion is to make sure that the students remain engaged and excited enough to spend the time that will make them successful. Read More

I believe that education is something that should be enjoyable, especially music. Music is something that inspires us and makes us happy. I encourage those ideas in lessons, and I focus on teaching students to play with musicality. For each individual student, I set reasonable goals for them at the end of each lesson. I also explain to them how to practice, and how to do so efficiently. Another idea I tend to focus on with my students is performance and how to practice performing. Read More

No matter the ability level, the plan of attack is to keep the lessons fun, productive, and furfilling. For beginners, we will stick to fundamentals and essential elements that will give you an edge to succeed and develop. After I see progression, I plan to dig into more advanced elements that will keep your interest. This is really where the students will see results. For intermediate to advanced musicians/learners, I plan to take it up a notch and challenge the students while keeping it fun and attainable. Read More
Instruments: Piano
I am a passionate piano performer who wants to show people the beauty of the instrument and its immense capabilities. I have studied music and have been classically trained since I was six years old and am studying for a bachelor associate degree at the University of Alabama. I have performed in numerous classical piano competitions, and growing up I competed in AMTA for over ten consecutive years. I want to now show and inspire people that piano is so much more than classical performance, that the instrument can be enjoyed to the fullest, in any way that the musician sees fit. Read More

My philosophy on how I teach is similar to the technics I learned during my undergraduate studies. I believe in letting the students learn the best way they can and how ever they feel more comfortable learning. With that being said I only want to enhance what they know not make them like me or every one else. Music is a art form as well as a true discipline thus I want to encourage consistency but most of all I want to stress artistry. Read More

I'm a very passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I have been raised up all around music. In my school years, I participated in band where I learned the technical aspects of music such as reading and writing notation. After graduation, performing in various bands across the United States has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to tour both Houston, Texas with the group Members Only and The Carter McKay Band, as well as busking in Nashville and performing in various groups there, all the way back to Birmingham, AL where I have played with several bands and have started my own self titled brand. I typically do two things. First, I tailor my lessons to fit the age, experience, and ability of each individual. I try to listen carefully to what they say, and try to figure out what they really mean. Since each student is an individual I do not categorize them. Second, I do rely upon well-known publications to supplement my lessons. But mostly I try to make the experience a fun thing. Read More
