Instruments: Piano
I am a piano instructor that loves sharing my musical knowledge with students and watching them progress. I just recently graduated from the University of Alabama in early May with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Piano Performance. I have been studying piano for almost twelve years. During my time as an undergraduate, I performed in recitals, taught private lessons to students, and accompanied for vocalists and instrumentalists. I also served as the president and treasurer of the Music Teachers National Association chapter at the University of Alabama. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
For piano, I use Faber instructional books for piano. I teach music theory which include but not limited to scales, rhythm, etc. I give instruction on music vocabulary and literature. Furthermore, students learn some music history which includes the different eras and composers. Also, I teach vocal pedagogy which includes but not limited to breathing and phonation. I teach according to the students' level of comprehension and ability. I encourage the students to advance. Read More

My philosophy on how I teach is similar to the technics I learned during my undergraduate studies. I believe in letting the students learn the best way they can and how ever they feel more comfortable learning. With that being said I only want to enhance what they know not make them like me or every one else. Music is a art form as well as a true discipline thus I want to encourage consistency but most of all I want to stress artistry. Read More

I believe in individualized learning. So each student will receive their own plan for their progression. Some materials I recommend for students are the rubank book for beginner. It is very important for students to grasp the fundamentals. For intermediate students, we would progress on a track and focus on what they had for goals. For advanced students we could use anything from method books to cds to ear training and transposition to bring out the best in the learner. Read More

For younger students who are children, I usually start with Faber Piano Adventures. Once the student has worked in fundamentals and get a better understanding of the instrument, I will begin introducing solo repertoire appropriate for his or her level. I also like to working on scales and sight reading with my students, I spend some time at the beginning of the lesson helping them get a solid grasp on these two elements. Read More
Instruments: Bass Guitar Double Bass
Students progress is largely a function of time spent working toward their goals. I have heard it said that in order to become an expert at anything, one must only spend 10,000 hours doing it. This is roughly 40 hours a week for 10 years. Bass is no different. In order for students to spend this ridiculous amount of time on something, they must be excited about it. If it is something that they choose for themselves, they will be. Read More
