As lessons progress another part of my teaching method is to teach students something they can be proud of. For younger students that might be a nursery rhyme they know all the words to and feel like they can perform for their parents, for older students it might be a song they love and hear on the radio and always wanted to learn how to play. About three summers ago, I played a show in my hometown of Montclair. Afterwards, I struck up a conversation with a woman who had just seen me play.
