I see teaching that each student will be different and learn at different rates. Having work with all levels of students, I understand that and recognize that I want to tailor my lessons to the students needs so they can be most successful. This could mean that a learner could be more visual or more auditory etc. I would want to set realistic expectations for the students and keep motivating them to do the best they can. Read More

I began teaching during my time at College. I encourage younger students to practice every day, even if it's just for 15-20 minutes. Practicing at the same time every day is essential for young students; this builds a habit within the student's routine. Younger students need a stronger routine to thrive and without the structure of practicing every day, there is less progress each week. I currently work at two music schools in Westchester county; Read More

I teach to each students style of learning and thinking, and approach my job from a place of complete respect for the students. The most fundamental quality of my teaching style is my desire to make everything I teach relevant and personal for the students, so that they truly connect to what is being taught, rather than simply learning facts and assimilating information. My ultimate goal as a teacher is for my students to be complete, well-rounded players, able to approach any genre with a complete understanding of the depths of music. Read More

I continued to teach music at that same sleep away camp for years -- eventually becoming the Head of the Music Department ( Rock Shop) there - coaching bands, leading improv classes, and developing the program. I later enjoyed several years teaching as an adjunct professor in the music department at my alma mater. I have always had a steady practice of private students ranging in ages and experience. Whatever the material be, I focus on finding the student's true musical voice, allowing them to take ownership over their instrument, allowing any intimidation to fade, and therefore, finding the natural joy in playing music.
