My teaching experience dates back to my time in high school, as I taught group guitar lessons with the Franklin Community Education and Recreation Department as well as private guitar lessons from 2011 to 2013. In both of those environments, I typically taught children ages 6 to 12, most of whom were beginners on their instrument. I found these lessons inspiring and enlivening; witnessing the sense of curiosity and wonder my students had as they began to make their first sounds made me excited to teach and to grow with them each week. I hold a Bachelor of Arts Degree from UW-Milwaukee and studied music at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. I have performed with many national acts throughout the US and Europe and also have collaborated with many artists as both a co songwriter, performer, producer and mastering engineer. My teaching style is very laid back and relaxed. As much as possible, I like lessons to be student driven. Allowing the student to take a measure of control over what they are learning, gives them a bit more ownership of and investment in their lessons. I have found this to keep students more interested and be more successful in their learning.
