After graduating from the one year course at Musician's Institute I attended CSUN and studied with concert pianists Jacob Gimple, and Charles Fierro, earning my degree in Composition/Piano. While in school friends and family asked me to teach them, and I found I had a special talent to teach. I joined the Music Teacher's Association of California and within a year had more students than I had time for. Read More

There is nothing more rewarding to me than a seeing a student play that song they love so much for the very first time. Many times, they never thought they would EVER be able to play it, but yet in only a few lessons hdere they are, playing it! I have a skill for breaking down what seems like a complicated subject, and explaining in the most simplfied way that everyone can understand, no matter their backround. Read More

I was born into a musically inclined family, and I decided to be the first to take it to a professional level. I started on piano with songs from games and films I enjoyed, but I always tried to come up with something of my own. During high school, I joined the marching band on alto saxophone and taught myself to play and read music. I was section leader for 2 years. Read More

I like to create a very warm, encouraging, relaxed and positive atmosphere for all my students. My teaching style is very much student-led in terms of goals and preferences. While I will create a general plan for each student to reach their particular goals, I never see my lesson plans as these rigid constructs that must be stuck to closely, and a guitar lesson may shift gears right in the middle of the lesson if I feel a student needs to spend a bit of extra time on one skill or concept before moving on, or if I find the student has picked up something much more quickly than expected, and we can move on to the next thing, or if the student asks a question that leads us to dive a little deeper into one particular topic that wasn't necessarily on the plan. This continued, grew and developed throughout my 5 year tenure. As required by music education minors, we had to participate in finding an accredited school system and observe for one year and assist for one year. I was fortunate to discover String Theory Charter School in Center City Philadelphia and began walking to the school every morning before my classes started, sitting in the back of the classroom taking notes and shadowing the orchestral and vocal teachers as they went about their morning classes, absorbing as much information as I could. Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
