If a student feels as if he is being pushed along at a pace not suited for his learning style the student may not gain maximum benefit from the instruction. Depending upon what area/instrument of music I'm teaching, I use a number of different materials, including (but not limited to) Tonal Harmony (Kostka, et al.), Essential Dictionary of Music Notation, Accent on Achievement, Hal Leonard's Essential Elements, or Rock House Method (McCarthy). The skill level of the student also dictates what resources I'll use. I am trying to motivate my students according to their interests and also buy using a worldly music knowledge that we inherited form generations of musicians who ever lived on Earth. In 2018 I agreed to become a Teaching Artist with Music Ascension and took on the role of Music Director for Indian Head Camp during the summer of 2018. At Indian Head I organized the curriculum for the students and recorded a full length album of songs that campers wrote. Since then I continue to write and produce music for TV, local artists and bands that I am actively involved with.
