I was studying Electrical Engineering for two years at Tufts University before I decided to take a leap and follow my passion of music. It has been an incredible journey ever since! I have had the oppurtunity to play a wide variety of musical styles including rock jam-band, folk trio, jazz ensembles, latin jazz, chamber music, solo, duo, avante-garde, electronic, and many more. No matter what the situation, I always love to play, create, and share music with others. Read More

The most rewarding thing about teaching is seeing my students cultivate their love for music, and self-confidence in their sound! In order to best achieve this, the most fundamental understanding is that each student learns and progresses at his or her own pace! With this in mind, I believe the best way to achieve results is to set realistic goals for each lesson - goals that utilize skills practiced in the lesson, yet set the stage for the next lesson are most ideal. I have recently started teaching in the last year on zoom and in person. A lot of my gigging and recording experience I have been able to incorporate in to my students lessons. I think one of the most important aspects of teaching music is how to learn. Every student learns differently. Knowing if they learn well by sheet music, by ear, or just working on technique. I enjoy teaching, putting students on the right track with what they want to learn, with the fundamentals of guitar in the beginning and that they enjoy it as well. Read More

With the Suzuki Method the students learn to play the instrument first, and to read music second, removing the obstacle of reading notation until the students learns some technique on the guitar. I have also taught students of varying ages using traditional teaching methods. I like to pace the lessons based on each individual student. I understand that students have other obligations and I do not believe music lessons should add stress to the students. Read More

I strongly believe that everyone is very different. Learning styles and musical goals are very much a part of this. Some find reading from a book helps them, so for most students I begin by recommending "A Modern Method For Guitar" from the Berklee Press, however for others a book is not as helpful as listening to some music and watching someone play. I like to introduce as much theory as is desired from the student because theory is a very important part of the musical process, but if the student prefers to get playing first and understand the “why” later then we can work something out in that regard. Depending on musical interest, we can work with different genre's and pieces to promote specific techniques and practice routines. Read More

My lessons are organized around a few core elements: fundamentals, technique, note-reading, and repertoire. For all students, grasping the fundamentals of pitch and rhythm is essential, so exercises that continually reinforce these fundamental skills are a typical first order of business for each weekly lesson. Simultaneously, I guide the student through proper posture, form, breathing, and mental preparation. For children, and any adolescents or adults who are truly serious about music, I encourage the development of sight-reading skills for musical literacy. Read More

I like to start my lessons with basic introduction to the guitar as an instrument and its components. String names, how to tune, and how to change your strings are included. Scales improve finger dexterity and teach the students about moving up and down the fretboard of a guitar. Learning basic chords is crucial for learning most modern day music. (unless it's avant garde, or experimental) We will go through basic chords one by one and chord structures. Read More
