As a lover of multiple genres of music, I aim to improve technique, versatility, and musicianship with my teaching. I recently graduated Cum Laude from the Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Music Business. During my time in school, I performed throughout the Boston area at venues such as the Middle East and the Berklee Performance Center. I ask that for the first lesson, the student bring in a recording of something they'd like to learn in the near future - or, if they have a longer-term sense of what they'd like to do, two recordings, one of which they would like to learn in the near future, and another of which they'd like to work towards learning as a longer-term goal. When it comes time to begin working with a student, I always ask them what is their dream, their vision, and what is their reason for picking up a musical instrument. Their goal doesn't have to be rock stardom but they have to want to learn! I encourage setting up realistic goals, and giving them tasks and tools to pick up along the way. Listening! I want to hear from the student why they're excited to play the instrument, in my case learn how to sing or play guitar. Every person and thus every student will be different. Some people find certain things easier or harder than others, so even if say I were teaching say two students of the same ability or progress level I wouldn't just give them excercises out of a book I'd customize the lessons so they could develop and build upon their currentskill level.
