I began teaching for Pendragon's Music in 1990, and since had taught for 22 years at a couple of the local music stores. In 2010 I started to gradually open up days at my home studio where I had a much more spacious, clean, noise free environment to teach in with better equipment. In 2012 I left the music stores all together and went full time at my home and at J5 Sound Studios in Bridgetown. Read More

I find teaching very rewarding. The benefits of studying music are now well documented. It is amazing to see my younger students begin to excel in other areas of studies. It is also very rewarding to act as a coach with my older learners as they begin or re-aquaint themselves to their love of music. I have been able to bring students of all ages and levels of music and learning ability forward. Read More

I tend to use the Faber Piano Adventure series as the basis for starting lessons. This series is very widely known and it is really one of the best methods available for teachers to use. I like it because two people are the authors and composers, a husband a wife team, and together they create interesting and enjoyable compositions that students of all ages like to play. They provide a wide variety of types of music from classical to blues to jazz and brance out into Christmas and Disney songs, all in different levels, so students can have a consistent series to grow and to never get bored! Teaching can also be learning, because there is a "two-way street" of communication between the student and the teacher as each collaborate on and develop the learning process. I get rewards for being a major part of that process. Additionally, nothing is more gratifying than to see one's student find their passion and exceed expectations. My goal is to encourage my students to enhance their creativity, musicality, and on a broader level, to help them excel at their personal and professional goals as potent and responsible citizens of our world community.
