I started teaching guitar lessons in 1999 (20 years this year!) Since those days I've gotten two degrees and taught at colleges, and private institutions, as well as high school and middle schools. I've found that combining textbook music instruction along with learning to play some of the music the student is listening to keeps them growing and engaged. Most importantly it makes learning music fun! I love jazz and I encourage efforts of composition and improvisation to help the student take ownership of the notes they're learning. Read More

I recently finished my studies to receive my Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy degree from Sam Houston State University. At SHSU I gained experience working with a variety of clientele including those diagnosed with autism, dementia, traumatic brain injury (TBI), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and spina bifida. I also provided live percussion music with the Creative Movement Program with the dance department at Sam Houston State University. I hope that in the near future I can own my own private studio where I can host music lessons and music therapy sessions. Read More

For beginners, I will start lessons by assisting them to become familiar with their instrument and to learn all the names of the various parts of the instrument. All lessons will be catered to what it is that the student is excited to explore, be it music theory, instrumental techniques, improvisation, composition, arrangement, ear training, transcription, reading, playing in a group setting, or just learning a favorite song. In terms of lessons material, I will guide students when and where necessary and do have traditional modalities of approaching lessons that I will employ if I feel the student is lacking direction (i.e. Read More

I love seeing students develop a deep and lasting passion for the guitar! I want every student to feel at ease and comfortable while learning and help them set goals that push them to achieve whatever they set out to, while eager to learn more. My hope is to provide lessons in a clear and easy-to-follow to manner, so they can not only make progress in the lesson itself, but carry forward what they learn into their day-to-day practicing outside of the lessons and utilize the techniques effectively toward their progress on the guitar.
