As stated previously, my end goal is to become a certified band director and am looking to get more experience with teaching. While in high school I helped fellow musicians in a sort of section leader role, as well as the "TA" for our stage crew class. In college I was in leadership in both the University Band Program and in my band fraternity, instructing both sides in how to preform music and how to become a great character at the same time! For piano students, I prefer Alfred's methods, whether the adult or for beginners. For band and orchestra, I use Essential Elements (or whatever their school is using), and supplement with Rubank's methods. For voice, I concentrate on whatever the student is interested in, with a foundation of good technique and understanding of the voice range and how to control it, with some solfege and sight-singing mixed in. Whatever the instrument, I follow and listen to the student to understand what they need, and change my curriculum to suit them. Read More

One of my first jobs was teaching electric guitar. I love guitar and I love music. When I teach, my students have fun and learn quickly. My teaching style is casual, with an intensive focus on technique and theory, as well as the songs and music that my students want to learn. I have helped some students advance their own music career. By sharing my vast knowledge and experience, my students, through practice, advance quickly. Read More

My number one rule for teaching is patience and setting small goals each week. Every student should want to pick up the instrument days after the lesson. Seeing someone learn a song and playing it through correctly is a mini miracle. Progress through repetition and different exercises has been a high yield of success in my personal experiences. Praise for when a student fulfills a goal goes a far way in future lessons. Read More
