I generally ask what your musical interests are and then I find a method specific for each person. I work on identifying chords, improvisation,playing melodies and song writing as well. I am a fan of William levitts books or jazz guitar which is a method I learned at berklee and is a very useful book for picking teqnique in a fun way , exploring some classical etudes for electrical guitar and i find this to be a great tool for developing speed, ear training and identifying chords with different sonorities to them. Many of my younger students prefer to use technology to connect with music (learning how songs are recorded, and the theory behind songwriting), but I also work with more serious students to prepare for college auditions, state/regional jazz band, etc. My methods differ depending on a student's own goals, but they generally all will start with a technical exercise, an exercise designed to get the student thinking critically, and an application of the concepts we're learning. I have been playing guitar since I was 16 years old I've been playing music since I was 5 years old when I started playing the organ and the recorder. I continue to learn music and started playing a little bit of flute as I got older I also played drums in marching band in high school. I started teaching guitar when I was about 18 years old just so I could play with some friends who wanted to play but didn't know how to so I started teaching them and over time I realize that I was actually pretty good at teaching so I started teaching other people outside of my friends and started doing pretty good with it.
