From there, I would gather information from the student regarding his or her difficulty level with the instrument and then from there, I would put together the appropriate materials for the lesson so that we have a plan to work from and an end goal in mind. I try to focus on the students interests as much as possible. Lastly, I use rythym training a lot with all my students. If it's not played in time, It's not music yet. We will work together to get it where it needs to be! I use real drum loops and other media for this. This dramatically increases the students feel for the pulse of the music.
