My personal teaching experience began while studying in Phladelphia at teh Unviersity of the Arts. As I started my 5 year Music Education minor/clearence program, I started to adapt what I was learning and develop my own style and flow of teaching. I began tutoring my friends and fellow classmates after school in the music library on campus, teaching them compex jazz theory, ProTools/Logic DAW shortcuts and processes, piano accompaniment, intervals, inversions, rhythmic dictation, bascally reinforcing what we learned earlier in the class. I use my own lesson plan. I'll start with Hal Leonard for young students, and hanon's virtuoso pianist for more advanced students. I'll use theory lessons mixed with what the student actually enjoys, because it's hard to learn what you're not interested in. I'm flexible and will adapt to the student's needs. I try to find what motivates the student to play, and guide them accordingly. Overall, the main objective is to keep the student engaged and happy about their progress, because all in all, music is about fun. Read More

We all approach and learn at different levels and paces. I watch my students growth on an individual basis. That being said, I set goals and give assignments that are achievable. I do enjoy letting the student pick a song they want to learn and going over the song together. But I also bring in my own exercises and knowledge in site reading, music theory, harmony, practice methods and proper technique. Read More

Every student is different so my teaching style changes depending their personality and interests. Some students respond well to tough challenges and criticism, while others buckle under pressure. For each student I will find a balance between their musical interests and information that I think they need to know in order to become a better percussionist. In lessons, I maintain complete honesty with my students about their progress, but in a reassuring way to watch them grow as performers. Read More

When I see a smile on someone's face in the presence of a musical accomplishment, the spiritual reward for that service is something I live for! To be able to help a student attain their goals requires a flexible teaching style, that can cater to every type of person. Positive affirmations are a key ingredient to helping a student feel good about they mile stones, but remaining realistic for the student at the same time allows them to make progress at their own pace, and feel good about it nonetheless.
