My methods are both technical and not so technical which is the fun part. But you  can not have fun until you put in the work (this is very important), and that is my philosophie in a nut shell. You work hard to be able to relax and then have fun.

My teaching style changes a bit depending on the student's age and experience.  I find it very important to tailor the lessons to help reach the student's goals.  With a lot of students I have found much success in teaching with song examples and forms. Rhythm and groove are topics that I stress while learning and playing songs as well.

My lessons are organized around a few core elements: fundamentals, technique, note-reading, and repertoire.  For all students, grasping the fundamentals of pitch and rhythm is essential, so exercises that continually reinforce these fundamental skills are a typical first order of business for each weekly lesson.  Simultaneously, I guide the student through proper posture, form, breathing, and mental preparation.  For children, and any adolescents or adults who are truly serious about music, I encourage the development of sight-reading skills for musical literacy.  To that end I typically use the Hal Leonard guitar method, or one of Berklee method books for more advanced students.  Working out of a method book is certainly not the end of the lesson, however; each week we'll focus on a particular piece of music of my or the student's choosing, and work towards a complete performance of that piece.

I'm a passionate and motivated vocalist/guitarist/lyricist who is mostly new to teaching in the formal sense. I've spent time in the past teaching friends here and there, but never really setup a regular clientele due to family or work commitments etc. While I consider myself to be a versatile vocalist who can sing most styles of music I belive my greatest gift to be able to access the deep emotions that make a song stand out to the listener. Whenever someone talks to me about music I want to know what moves them and why? Most importantly I'm most excited about this opportunity to teach because I'd like to help my students find their own unique individual voice.

I am a guitarist of 11 years, mostly self-taught. I started learning with the RI Philharmonic music program, then learned on my own by playing with my church band and playing my favorite rock albums by ear. I studied Recording Arts at Full Sail University, which gave me a deeper understanding of the process behind music production, and gave me exposure to new kinds of music to expand my pallette of musical expression. If someone asked me what's my favorite type of music, I now simply show them my Spotify playlist as it's gotten to the point where I can't pinpoint a single favorite, and the amount of music I've heard is too much to describe simply. Having returned to my home state of Rhode Island, I continue to play with my church band and continue to heighten my skills as a guitarist, with the hopes of writing my own original material and continue to invest the gift of music in those around me.

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
