At the very beginning level I would start with fundamentals from whatever book I feel would be best for the student depending on their age and knowledge. Beforehand I definitely will need to asses their knowledge so I can do so accordingly. My teaching experience goes back to my high school days when I taught flute, clarinet, and saxophone to beginning students. I "taught" my way through music college at a busy studio in the Philadelphia area, and always had a waiting list - from novice, to intermediate and advanced, to adult students. Upon graduation, I was hired by the college to teach flute, saxophone, and music theory, which I did for over 10 years, in conjunction with a busy performance schedule. Read More
