Overview:
I am a professional music and teacher in Central Florida. I love playing the flute and piccolo and working with students sharing my passion for music. I perform as a soloist as well as in small ensembles and local orchestras. I have Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and a Master’s degree in Flute Performance. I have performed at Avery Fischer Hall and Carnegie Hall in New York as well as many other venues. Originally from New Jersey, I now reside near Celebration Florida in the Four Corners area.
EXPERIENCE
I have been teaching privately since I was in college and have been teaching ever since. . I believe in meeting students where they are and encouraging them to practice regularly so they will continue to progress at a rate that keeps them excited and developing a passion for the flute and music. I use classical music and more modern music to help them explore different styles and to keep having fun! My students are encouraged to audition for honors bands, enter solo and ensemble competitions
METHODS USED
For beginning students, I use the Trevor Wye beginning books and supplement with solos, etudes, songs and exercises that I give them which are appropriate for their level. For more advanced students, I will use etudes and methods/ solos which are appropriate for their level. For adults, I will find their interests and select a course of study with them. With all students, I will assist with their school music or any ensemble/ solo music they wish.
LESSON STYLE
What I love the most is seeing and hearing students express their love and excitement for music and the flute. I meet my students where they are and support them in their study. Not everyone learns the same way and I believe it is my role to use different techniques and styles to help each child reach their goals.
