My philosophy is to teach the student what they want to learn while including basic music theory so that they know what they are doing and why. I plan performance opportunities for the students every couple of months. Read More

For young children (ages 4-6) I use a combination of Piano Adventures "My First Piano" books and my own curriculum I've created. For children 7-9, I will start them out with Alfred's Basic Piano Library books. For children 10 and older, we'll use the Piano Adventures series. As for adults, I generally recommend Alfred's Adult Piano books. For all ages, I always include fun solo songs that cater to each student's interests. Read More

While all of my students study the same fundamental musical principles, I believe that every lesson should be as unique as every person. That's why I always create new, customized lesson plans and provide individualized materials for all of my students. In my experience, this approach is most effective at increasing the student's musical ability—and it's a lot more fun! Rather than just going cover to cover through a method book, we'll keep things interesting and fresh by playing music games (especially with younger students), composing our own music, listening to new artists, and working on pieces that are requested by the student. I believe each indivdual deserves a teaching method that is as unique as their person. No two people are alike and as such no two individuals should be taught in the same manner. I take the student's musical interest and develop that interest into lesson plans that are both challenging and fun! There is so much music in the world to be explored and this music can be explored at any level! Read More

The true role of a teacher is to open the door for a student to discover things on their own. Because every student has different ways of learning different things, a teacher must be able to guide a student through the process and find what works the best for them. Also, I am more interested in engaging a student in the spirit and emotion of music, rather than just the technical aspect of playing an instrument. Read More

I believe that every student should have a personalized music education. I often tailor my lessons and methods to be as interesting and stimulating as possible for my students. Eventually all my students have material for warm ups, method books, daily studies, and solo repertoire, though this is flexible for younger and beginning students. It is important that my students feel challenged but confident, and I always try to promote a positive learning environment. Read More

I can teach several styles such as jazz, classical, gospel and RB/Hip-Hop. I recently completed my masters in jazz at The University of the Arts located in Philadelphia, PA. I hope I can you reach your goals and to become the best musician that you can be. Read More
