I use the Mark Thomas flute books for beginner through the 2nd year. In the first year, I typically teach basic fundamentals of scales and playing the full range of the instrument along with basic flute literature. Once these are complete I transition into the Anderson studies and more advanced literature. The more advanced flutest would work in the Trevor Wye book series and medium advanced to advanced flute literature. Read More

As I mentioned before, there is no greater reward than to witness students recognizing their own potential for themselves! Therefore, all lessons are built around the student's desires, needs, and talent. All individuals have the ability to learn and play an instrument and this is something I strongly believe in. I am a very open minded teacher who encourages "outside of the box" approaches and loves to explore different ideas to gain a full understanding of musical gestures, styles, and mastery. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs in the style they want to learn. p> Read More

I do not approach my teaching to focus on a student's future as a musician. All make individual choices on musical endeavors. Read More

I teach music, not just instruments. I try to develop a broad appreciation for music that will stay with my students wherever they go in life. I take an individualized approach based on learning styles and strengths. I believe in positive reinforcement, especially with younger students! I also take into account preferences for music styles and attempt to use repertoire that not only broadens their experience, but keeps students focused and interested. Read More

After receiving my jazz performance degree from Rutgers University in 2010, I put together a studio of several dedicated students in New Jersey while performing in the New York Metro area with ensembles ranging from big bands to funk and soul groups. During that time, I also helped create several music education programs and camps in Red Bank and Asbury Park, and was instructed players of all skill levels, helping them improve their skills.
