I focus on the individual more than anything else. I tailor my teaching style to each student.  When something clicks for them, I stick with it and adapt to keep the student engaged, interested, and passionate about music.  If I find a student is not fond of a certain book or solo, we change course together. Gonzalez Convention Center in San Antonio, Texas for TMEA full orchestra in 2011, Hartford Convention Center for 2015 Connecticut All-State Festival, and at the IES Music Center in Vienna, Austria where I studied flute performance with Forough Djafar-Zadeh-Karimi and Ulrike Anton in the spring of 2018. I also studied with Carol Wincenc, whom I performed with at the 2017 Flute Festival at Skidmore, and Tara Helen O'Connor at the Wind and Brass Festival in 2019. Read More

My methods of teaching are personalized for each of my students depending on age, experience and interests. Once I determine their level, I then introduce some method books, technique exercises and etudes. Combining these create a full spectrum of rhythm, dynamics, intonation, form, meter, expression and much more! I continuously assess my students progress and create short and long term goals to set us up for success! For my beginning students who are children, I may start them with Hal Leonards Essential Elements and/or the Rubank Method. Once they begin to learn the basics and and can grasp the fundamentals, I can begin to introduce solo pieces. For adults, I try to learn about what level the student is and what their interests are so that I can cater my lessons accordingly.
