I am a passionate performer and flute instructor who loves working with students of all ages and levels. I recently graduated from the New England Conservatory of Music with a Graduate Performance Diploma and a Masters Degree. Previously, I attended the Eastman School of Music where I received my Bachelors Degree. I have had the opportunity to perform across the country in numerous orchestral and solo performances. Hello! I'm a Berklee College of Music Alumnus with 20+ years playing experience! I started studying the saxophone at 9 years old and spent most of my early school years performing in community, school, and local college jazz bands around the Seattle-Tacoma area of Washington State. My music has given me the opportunity to travel the world, and in summer of 2016, I conducted a tour of Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda with my band the AfroXchange in conjunction with music therapy organization Global Youth Groove where I hosted jazz masterclasses, as well as performed at clubs and festivals, and assisted a music therapy team around the countryside. I also pay special attention to the goals and desires of the student's guardians to know what I do to help students reach their full potential. For older and/or more advanced students, I like to create a balance of tone warm ups, scale work, etudes, and musical rep. I encourage students to bring pieces they are interested in learning into their lessons. If a student is also interested in non-classical music (e.g. Disney tunes, Celtic music, pop, jazz, etc.), I find music in those genres at their playing level for them to enjoy. I tailor my teaching to what my students want to learn and what kinds of music they are interested in. I try to teach my students the fundamentals in order to succeed. While I do teach repertoire, my main goals are to foster a passion for music and the ability to approach new music my students may encounter. I try to leave my students with effective practice methods and a basic understanding of music theory in addition to flute skills. Read More

In addition to seeing music through each individual student's eyes, I foster a sense of community by encouraging communication, coordinating chamber music and performing recitals, and providing other means of continued learning. I make myself available via email and phone, always doing everything I can to continue the students' engagement outside of their lesson.
