I am a graduate of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where I received a Bachelors of Music in Flute Performance and a Minor in Art History in May 2018. You can learn so much about a student in a 30 minute trial lesson! If a new student is not a total beginner, I will ask them to play their favorite song (or one of their favorites if they have trouble choosing just one). After their performance, I ask them what they liked about how they played. Its important for students to always be aware of what they do well. If they arent able to see their strengths on their own then I share with them what I think their strengths are and encourage them to keep that up. Read More

I've always been a passionate and curious musician, ever since I picked up a flute in fourth grade. I have been dedicated to both flute and percussion ever since then, and continue to learn and play at Sarah Lawrence College. I am currently focusing on playing in pit bands for musicals, as they are my favorite performance setting. I have competed multiple times in the NYSSMA solo music festival, and have been part of an award winning concert band at the Lake Compounce Trills and Thrills Music Festival. Read More

I make it a point to ask all students (or parents for my younger ones) to purchase a notepad where assignments, expectations, exercises, tips/tricks can be written down to help them progress during the year and into the following week of lessons. My favorite aspect about teaching is pushing students beyond the limit they place for themselves. That being said there must be a mutual understanding that I will do all I can to help students get over a "learning hump" as I call it- I have access to a plethora of journals, articles, teaching websites, a personal library, all of these materials can be scanned, printed out, emailed and whatnot for the benefit of my students.
