I began teaching music at the age of 15, primarily guitar and piano lessons for beginners ages 7-14 in my hometown of Parker, CO. At 16 I began teaching my students basic music theory and intermediate instrumental instruction. I moved to Boston in 2012 to pursue an undergraduate degree in Songwriting from Berklee College of Music in Boston, still actively teaching throughout my curriculum. I have now taught over 200 students ages 4 to 64 a wide variety of music-related subjects, including: piano, guitar, bass, voice, music theory, D.A.W. and notation software, and contemporary songwriting. I've worked with students who have been on their own for a while, helping to correct any bad habits that had snuck in. I've helped students reinforce the technical basics of scales, daily exercises, breathing, and long tones so that their music soars. I love teaching, and I firmly believe that almost anyone can be taught to do almost anything! I have music degrees from Hope College in Holland, Michigan, and USF in Tampa, Florida. After teaching at Hope for 6 years, I joined the Air Force to play with the world-class musicians that make up their bands. I spent 8 1/2 years in Colorado Springs stationed at Peterson AFB, and I loved it! I then moved to Illinois to be stationed at Scott AFB, playing with the USAF Band of Mid-America. Read More
