For beginning students who are children, I use the Rubank Method for Flute as well as Pares Scales. Once they have become more advanced I assign more challenging etude and scale books. When the student has a grasp of the instrument,I present solo repertoire and orchestral excerpts tailored for each level. Students are often encouraged to self-evaluate and set their own level of rigor.
