1My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More

I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. In 2004, I graduated from the University of Mary Hardin Baylor with a Bachelor Degree in Music Education. I've performed with the Waterloo Wind Band (Austin), the Austin Symphonic Band, the Cypress Symphonic Band, and the Shimmer Flute Choir. In high school, I attended the Texas All State Band (flute), and the Texas State Solo and Ensemble Contest (flute and piano). Read More

I wont be asking a student to, all of the sudden, begin some vigorous practice routine of 20 hours a week. But I will be working with them to establish a routine that will work in their favor as a musician. I like to let students come to their own conclusions about things I like to just show a student the way. Instead of just telling the student an answer, when they come to the conclusion by themselves, with my help, the information is better remembered and engrained into a student. Read More

I prefer a direct, open, creative approach to teaching. I like to get to know my students well, and try to appeal to their greatest areas of interest. I aim to teach the loving and fun nature of music, to expand students' minds, and to provide them with food for thought and methods for improving. I customize each lesson for the student and our mutual expectations. I love to play with my student, finding that aural learning is very effective and allows the student to become comfortable with performance. Read More

Every student has different interests and a different learning style. I customize every lesson and lesson plan to meet the needs of my students. The first lesson is focused on my assessment of a students skills, interests, and learning styles. From there I will determine the most useful resources for each student. I will work with the method book that is being used in a student's school, in addition to method books designed for individual skill development such as the Rubank Method Books or Suzuki Method for string instruments.
