Ibegan teaching private lessons from 2004 and tried to consistently teaching students in my home studio. I was a counselor and private lesson instructor at the OSU Flute Workshop from 2011 to 2013. Playing duets with student, learn very exciting extended techniques, and various repertoire are features I emphasize for students to help them enjoy and motivate to learn. I teach through positive reinforcement and encouragement with a set structure that allows for discipline and certain benchmarks that can determine success and mastery of certain skills. I truly believe that when students are nurtured and given a comfortable space they will excel as creating music and art is vulnerable and requires the student to let go. When I started college, I continued to teach flute lessons and I then began teach saxophone lessons as well. I have a more laid back teaching style that is adapted to the student's personality and learning style. The last thing that any student wants is a stressful environment. Musical lessons should be challenging and have an element of fun as well. The student should leave the lesson wanting to come back to another lesson not feeling like they should put their instrument down and give up.
