I am an Iranian-born musician that pursued a life dedicated to the midwifery of artist-led philanthropic initiatives. Later I narrowed my dedication to the community around me after the pandemic and national police brutality rise in the nation; however, I learned that my true calling is with the organizations behind the scenes striving to provide the youth with access to world-class music education. I strongly believe in quality music education for the youth because my lifelong theory is that bridging networks and social cohesion are increased by bringing children from all walks of life together through music. I have been teaching flute since 2006 in my home studio. It began as being in the music intern for the beginning winds class that my high school had offered and the students who had picked flute had continued lessons with me after the class was over. In 2013, I began teaching for Olga's Piano Studio as the private flute instructor. I primarily teach classical music and tie in one or two styles of music that the student enjoys as well. Read More

Depending on a student's musical background, I would typically start with foundational exercises like scales/arpeggios/broken chords and discussions of essential music theory elements to help a student progress. If the student is brand new to the flute, I would also do some breath work, and introduce exercises to improve tone and understand tuning. After the basics, I'd introduce solo repertoire and help students prepare for any performances they would like to take part in. Read More

I am motivated to teach students all aspects of music. Each lesson focuses on scales and exercises, performance pieces, and musical creation. I graduated from St. Mary's college in 2006 with a BA of performing arts. I am currently playing with the Walnut Creek Concert Band and The Community Womens Orchestra. I have had the opportunity to play with Awesome Orchestra, Dirty Cello, a Prince cover band and many other jazz and classical groups. Read More

I use a two pronged approach to my lessons. I start with fundamentals, especially focusing on two areas: sound and counting. 1.) Sound: Over the last 34 years, I've found that the student who does not sound good - even though he or she can play all notes and rhythms - will not be pleasing to anyone who hears them play. What good is it if he can play all rhythms and notes and sound bad? Read More

This might be to learn to play specific pieces that they like, to gain help with something they are struggling in, to win first chair in their school ensemble, to win a competition, or to get into college as a musician, among many other things. With those goals in mind, I like to take a holistic approach to the learning process. We will work on developing a great tone, mastering technique, playing with strong intonation, and learning how to phrase and play expressively within the different types of music. Read More

Every student unique and learns in their own way. During lessons, I often compare concepts to other activities my students know and love - their favorite sport, video games, or books. I love sharing my magic tricks - shortcut exercises to make tricky passages instantly easier, and youll definitely catch me encouraging my students to listen, listen, listen! Every genre of music has something different you can learn and it adds to your own creative toolkit. Read More
