The Suzuki method is ideal for beginning flute students, particularly young students. This approach allows students to become comfortable holding the instrument, producing a solid tone, and training the ear, before introducing notation. I played music all my life. I began to play the flute at the age of 9 years old and the piano at around 12. I graduated from Washington Adventist University with a degree in music performance. I have performed with the New England Symphonic Ensemble in various countries all over the world including England, Thailand, Greece, Italy, Mexico, Jamaica, Caymen Islands and South Africa. I like to set goals for my students. I generally work out of lessons books, solo repertoire, and whatever else the student brings in. If the students have music from classes in school, I will also assist them with that. I try to keep the lesson light, and enjoyable! Nothing makes me happier than being able to teach my students and help them learn or enhance their ability to perform flute and understand the music they are sharing with others. I enjoy helping my students achieve more and continuously inspire them to become better musicians.
