Once the student has a grasp on the fundamentals, I begin to introduce solo repertoire. For adult students, I try to find out what the student is interested in pursuing, and then if they are a beginner, I teach fundamentals through the Rubank method books and supplement with songs that are approapriate to the student's taste. I like using flashcards, so students can quickly develop their site-reading. I use different techniques that meet the individual capacity of the students and adults. For intermediate and advanced students I prefer scales, etudes (exercises), sonatas, concertos and solo pieces of their preference. I like to play duets with my students and that is usually their favorite part as we can combine talents to play something beautiful.
