Over the past ten years, I have had the privilege of working with students of all ages, and have been on faculty at the Manhattan School of Music Summer Program, the Larchmont Music Academy, All-Island Music, and an adjunct teaching instructor New York University’s Steinhardt School of Music. Performing all over the world has been one of the greater experiences of my life as a musician, and I've had the opportunity to perform at renowned venues such as Salle Cortot in Paris, France and Orchestra Hall in Detroit, Michigan. An advocate of new music, I have performed at the Bowling Green State University (BGSU) New Music Festival, the Society for Composers International (SCI) and the Society for Electroacoustic Music in the United States (SEAMUS) Conferences, where my performance won a recording spot on the 2018 Music From SEAMUS, vol. 27 CD now available for purchase on iTunes and NAXOS. Each student is a unique individual. No two students are the same, nor will any lesson be. I use positive encouragement and reinforcement when communicating to my students. This means identifying what they might be doing correctly, as well as what needs improvement in a supportive way. My goal is to build confidence and self-esteem in their music and life. In my private lessons I emphasize building a strong foundation in rhythm, intonation, and note accuracy.  I incorporate learning theory, and playing with musical intention into every lesson to develop maturity, even in young musicians.  My students are comfortable reading music, and have all the skills they need to practice effectively.  In addition, I have prepared many musicians for successful concerts, festivals, and gigs. I have been teaching saxophone, clarinet, flute, and piano to all ages in many different parst of the country including Utah, New England, New Jersey, and New York. I have taught private lessons for 9 years, and I can proudly say that the majority of my students were accepted either to middle and high school honor ensembles, or to their colleges of choice. Before I teach any student, I make it my goal to gather as much information as I can about why they wish to study clarinet, their goals, and their long-term dreams.
