I graduated from James Madison University where I studied with Carol Kniebusch Noe, played four years in the JMU Flute Choir and in the JMU Wind Symphony. I have taught a wide range of insturments ranging from woodwinds like clarinet and flute to brass insturments like trumpet and baritone. I absolutely love getting students really excited about their instrument. I like to show videos of high level playing and introduce a wide variety of genres and styles while I find exactly what it is that inspires the student to play. My lesson structure normally consists of a warm up, rudiment/sticking work, reading or playing exercise and new concepts, then work on a song. I really try to get my students playing along with tracks so they can hear how drums sound in a band setting and apply it to their playing! Read More

Likewise, I have had the opportunity to teach private lessons to multiple students throughout my career, which has allowed me to learn and adapt to various educational models in order to create an educational environment where the student feels capable of become the best version of themselves both in the artistic field and in the human field. Equally important, I consider constant motivation to be one of the most fundamental tools in my educational arsenal, which is why being able to prepare students for various competitions, auditions and festivals is extremely important because through these students can be exposed to various training models that directly benefit their training as artists.
