I try to cater my lessons to the interest of my students. If a pupil’s passion for music can be harnessed, then developing musical skills can be a simple process. I have a wide variety of material I teach from, including Ted Reed’s syncopation, George Lawrence Stone’s Stick Control for the Snare Drummer and basic piano literature. I also use music selected by the student to create custom lessons. Read More

Hello! My name is Daniel and I've have been a Drummer for most of my life. I grew up in Port Huron, Michigan and moved to the Detroit area when I turned 18 for college. I obtained a Bachelor's degree from Wayne State in Psychology, but my main passion has always been music performance of any and all styles. I have over twenty years of experience in teaching public classes and private lessons. I have a great joy in discovering breakthrough moments where everybody can work together towards achieving their personal goals. Though it is true that every person is unique and different, it is always great where folks can get together and share the love that is music whether that be performing or simply sharing a tune with a loved one or neighbor. When starting with a beginner student, I typically start by asking general questions about their interests and the music genres they enjoy. Then, we move on to the basics of maintaining proper form, understanding rhythm, and practicing simple exercises to ensure they start off with the right foundation. After that, we focus on learning the first few basic beats and ensuring they have a good understanding of how they are played. Read More

I like to give fun, free feeling lessons. While I go into each lesson with a goal in mind, I enjoy going on brief tangents for life lessons, performance tips, or applicable and funny stories. I am known to be very animated and energetic as a teacher and I have learned that students feed off of this energy, allow us to be more productive which results in outcomes that are significantly greater. I like to focus on fundamentals and excellent musical character before working into repertoire and I have had a great deal of success with my students, having used this approach. Read More

Music is my passion and driving force, and I love to share that love with others. I graduated from Churchill High School in Livonia, MI after 4 years of drumline and orchestra, and went on to study 2 years of Jazz Studies at Wayne State University. Ive been teaching students ages 5-19 since 2007 and I love it. Lately, my main gig has been working on the roster for the illustrious event/wedding band Bluewater Kings Band. Read More

I have been teaching now for more than 7 years, starting fresh out of High School. I encourage my students to follow their dreams and put their all into their craft. I find that my students reap better rewards when they have a consistent and concise method of practicing, to which they can develop with my help and then "out grow" their need for my instruction. One of my goals as an educator is to build self sufficient humans that can tackle the challenges of not only their instrument, but their lives as well. Read More
