After a couple lessons, we start to focus on thefundamentalrudimentsand short solo piecesincorporatingthose rudiments. For the more advanced student, I try to find outtheirgoals and expectations and try to alignandincorporatethose with studies in technique and theory. The goal is to keep students interested, lessons fun while growing their experience andproficiencyattheirinstrument. Read More

I am a passionate musician, educator, conductor, and composer, and I have been happily obsessed with music since I began piano lessons at age 10. I joined the school band program in 6th grade, and since then, I have learned how to play and teach many different instruments. My primary instrument is percussion, but I play piano, low brass, clarinet, bass guitar, and I also have perfect pitch. I also have had opportunities to share my love of music by arranging and composing for my own students as well as being commissioned by school band programs. Read More

I love teaching and seeing students progress in their skill. No student is like the next and I do my best to create an atmosphere for each student to get the most out of their time with me. I also make sure the understand how they should be practicing and the effective ways to practice. It is not as simple as saying, "Practice double strokes this week". The student needs to understand why they are learning the rudiment, tendencies of poor technique and how to monitor progress. Read More

This led me to start teaching private drum lessons, live/studio session drumming, and music production. After college I was feeling like that music education was not keeping up with the music business. As a record label own I felt that music education should reflect modern music making, that was the start of my passion for teaching students my drum philosophy. Read More

It is important to install a sense of confidence and feeling of progression when teaching, so I make sure to acknowledge every student's progress along with the desired improvements. Everyone can improve at every skill level, so I believe it is important to let the student know the amount of progress they've achieved from hard work. Belittling is not something I believe is an effective method of having someone fall in love with anything, especially not music. Read More
