I like giving my students the right tools, lesson by lesson, enabling them to proceed through the learning process.I usually start observing what the student come up with, wether on drums or piano and then I use their natural talent or inspiration to connect to my teaching path .This way I'm able to really engage with them, keeping them on that inspiration that brought them to me.I always try to adapt my style to the student inclinations since some of them are more for instinctive learning others more for academic learning. I stress to all my students exactly what a drummer's job is, that he/she needs to compliment the music and play within the framework of the song. The best thing that another musician can say about a drummer is that they have a great "groove" or great "feel". If I can get my students to that point then I'm happy. Read More

I can teach many instruments that I have taught myself how to play well and efficiently. I play in many bands and I am always learning new styles of music. My best instruments are Piano, Bass, Drums, Ukulele, Guitar, Percussion, Harmonica, Recorder, Tin Whistle, Mandolin and also Trumpet. My secondary instruments are everything else. I can fool around on Violin, Cello, Banjo and Trombone as an amateur. I could blow into a Saxophone, Flute, Clarinet, French Horn and probably anything else I can get my hands on, but I would not feel comfortable teaching them yet because I don't have enough time in the world to learn them and figure out how to play them myself and get as good as I can on those instruments. For beginning students we usually start with sitting at 2 drum sets and learning to hold the sticks. It's then about trying to get the sticks to strike the drum and practice getting a nice sound on the instrument. Even at a young age, it's important to help the students to think about tone and how we are creating sound on these instruments. I use the same technique on the vibes, learning to hold 2 or 4 mallets and just creating simple sounds. Read More

I am looking to build my teaching experience on Musika but I have taught a few unofficial lessons to students in their teenage years. I was also a section leader at Cresskill High School, where I led, trained, and directed the drumline. Through this experience, I have helped unlock my students' potential and build them into more well-rounded drummers. I like to encourage regular practice with a consistent schedule that my student feels comfortable with. Read More

I use many different methods but most importantly I tailor the lesson to fit the student's needs. I like to write out lessons, but I generally start my students off using Benny Greb's "The Language of Drumming." I like to teach the student how to play the instrument as if it were a language, in the form of an alphabet. It's a great method in building a strong foundation with the instrument. Read More

I started playing drums over 15 years ago and having been teaching professionally for 10 years. I started teaching at age 13 for The Town Of Babylon Summer Music Program. After several years of teaching there I moved on to teaching full time privately with students ranging from ages 7 - 35. I have helped my students obtain high scores on NYSSMA, as well as grow as musicians and help them to form bands and play live in front of audiences. Read More
